Lesson plans for teachers

If you would like to run the challenge during lesson times (rather than with a hackathon) there are four modules that you can draw on to support you. For each module there is a PDF document that explains the activities, as well as a PowerPoint slide deck with videos. These lessons were built to be run in a classroom, but they can be adapted to be run through an online learning platform as well (we would recommend using the powerpoint slides with the videos as links). You can choose which online learning platform to use, but we would recommend Microsoft TEAMS, and building individual channels for each student group to work in.

Module 1 - Picking an AI for Good Challenge

Module 2 - Innovating Your AI for Good Concept

This module is focused on helping your students decide which global issue they want to try to solve through the challenge.

This module is focused on first helping your students learn about AI and then supports them to begin innovating their AI concept.

Module 3 - The Ethics of Your AI Concept

Module 4 - Submitting your AI Concept

This module is focused on helping your students learn about the ethical considerations of AI and checking the ethics of their own ideas.

This module is focused on helping your students learn about how to put in a great submission to increase their chances of success in the challenge!
